Day 2/21 cycling the entire length of Norway ????????????♂️
Nordkapp → Lindesnes.
Today was supposed to be a “recovery stage”.
Olderfjord to Alta. Flat. Easy. Cruise.
Norway said no.
This is what cycling in Northern Norway actually is:
???? reindeer blocking the road like they pay tax here
???? campervans parked exactly where you need to exist
????️ wind that feels personal
???? German motorhomes fully committed to not seeing me
The reindeer are fine. They were here first.
The Germans… I’m still processing.
This is the reality of road cycling in Norway though. It’s not clean, it’s not predictable, and it definitely doesn’t care about your plan.
One minute you’re alone on empty Arctic roads.
Next minute you’re negotiating space with wildlife and a rolling village of holiday homes.
But that’s kind of the point of this Nordkapp to Lindesnes bikepacking ride.
It’s not supposed to be easy.
It’s supposed to feel like this.
Also doing this to raise money for Mental Helse Ungdom — link is in the comments if you want to support ❤️
Big thanks to Merida Nordic for backing this madness. The Merida Scultura 9000 is currently surviving conditions it was absolutely not emotionally prepared for.
Over the next days:
???? road cycling Norway
????️ actual climbing starts
????️ more tunnels (I’m sure)
???? more reindeer negotiations
???? more campervan diplomacy
???? more tired decisions
Day 2 done.
Alta reached.
