Hi Everyone!

Welcome back to all those who are returning and welcome to all those who are new~

From April 25, 2023-May 5, 2023, I went to Europe with my mom! It was very spontaneous. I booked everything about a week before on April 12th. We hit 3 countries: France, Switzerland & Italy. My mom has only been to England & Iceland so she really wanted to go back and experience more.

Excluding travel days to and from Europe, we spent 2 days in France (Paris & Palace of Versailles), 3 days in Switzerland (1 day Zurich, 1 day Interlaken, 1 day Jungfrau), 4 days in Italy (1 day Lake Como, 1 Day Milan, 2 days Venice).

We slept in for a bit until 8/9am before heading out a little before 10am. We walked over to the subway (RER-c) to head over to the Palace of Versailles. On our way we stopped by three different stores for breakfast, lunch and snacks/drinks to go! The train ride itself was pretty short (less than 30 mins). Make sure you validate your ticket otherwise you can't leave the station haha. From the train station, it's a short 10 minute walk to the Palace. There are multiple different entrances for different points/aspects of the palace. We went to the main entrance as we wanted to start off at the Palace. The signal here is poor and there's really bad wifi so make sure you download the APP for the AUDIO guide prior to arriving! Once you pass security, you can buy the audio guide for 5euros if you need. then you go outside to the courtyard where you go straight through to the beginning on the other side (unlike us who thought it was on the same side as the entrance). The palace itself is HUGE w/ many rooms. Took us about 2-3 hours to go through each room and take pictures. Definitely wear comfortable shoes! There's a gift shop and cafe you can go to. Only one main bathroom though so it does get packed. We then spent about 2-3 hours in the Gardens. Due to time and our feet killing us, we bought tickets to the Tram to take us around the Garden (cheaper than renting a golf cart). It took us to the Great Canal (didn't get off), the Grand Trianon (meh, especially after the palace), the Petite Trianon (didn't get off) and back to the palace. Overall, we could have definitely spent more time here but my mom wanted to check out an LV store before we left France so we headed out and ventured out to one of the LV stores that were still opened. It was around 630-730 so the subway were PACKED. Unfortunately, even though we arrived an hour before they closed, LV closed the queue due to the long wait, so we weren't able to shop (same went w/ all the major brands in the mall). So we headed out, grabbed snacks at the pastry store we visited yesterday near our airbnb, changed, picked up our luggage, grabbed more snacks at the store before heading out to the bus station. The bus station was definitely "out of the way". We had to walk about 10 mins from the subway station to the bus station and the bus station was ... a bit shady. Luckily we found our bus right away and got seated 30 minutes before we left. Thankfully no one else book the seats next to us so we had the entire table to ourselves so we could spread out during the trip and rest. We ate and chilled for the first two hours before we knocked out. The overall bus ride wasn't bad. There was a bathroom inside which was comforting. There was one stop around 1-2am where you can stretch and go to the bathroom at the rest stop. I just continued to sleep. Weirdly, when we arrived in Switzerland/crossed the border, no one came on board to check our passports. Overall, not a bad way to kill time and money by doing an overnight bus instead of waiting another night and taking an early morning train!

Although it was a pretty chill day, I wished I planned more time for my mom so that she could've enjoyed more of the shopping aspect of France. Otherwise, like yesterday, our feet definitely feel the burn haha.

I can't wait to share with you all the different countries we explored. It was truly one for the books! I hope you enjoyed Palace of Versailles! Stay tuned for more~

Definitely recommend traveling with just your parents at least once in your life. Makes you appreciate one and other & it's nice to enjoy each other's company when you're older!
