-Mama Goulash -

- New York Cafe -

- Chimney cake

-Cafe Central -

Policy Dialogue

Speakers: Anna Rennéus Guthrie, CEO at Stockholm Free World Forum - Frivärld; Chris Kremidas-Courtney, Senior visiting fellow Fellow, European
Policy Centre, & Lecturer, Institute for Security Governance; Jonas Parello-Plesner, Executive Director, Alliance of Democracies; Nauja Bianco, Independent Consultant and Board Member of Greenland Resources

Moderator: Maria Martisiute, Policy Analyst, European Policy Centre

The strategic significance of Greenland grown markedly in the context of Euro-Atlantic security, most visibly following US President Donald Trump’s threat to “take” the territory.

Although Washington backpedaled on its plan, as well as from threats to place tariffs on NATO’s European allies, US strategic realignment continues to pose politico-military dilemmas for the Arctic, Nordic and Baltic frontlines – and for Europe more broadly.

This Policy Dialogue assessed the rapidly changing developments surrounding Greenland from the perspectives of Denmark, Greenland, Sweden and the United States. It offered insights into how the EU and NATO allies are responding to rising tensions in the Arctic and consider pathways for strengthening regional stability.

The event took place within the framework of the EPC’s Northern Europe Platform (NEP), which provides a forum for analysis and debate on developments in the Nordic, Baltic and Arctic regions. The Platform aims to inform and shape European policymaking, notably in the areas of defence and security, economy and innovation, and climate and sustainability.

We Took A Charter Plane to Eleuthera Bahamas

In this video we take a charter plane from Fort Lauderdale to Eleuthera, Bahamas and share the entire experience from arriving at the private terminal to boarding the aircraft and flying over the incredible blue waters of the Bahamas.

This trip marks the start of our Eleuthera series, where we explore one of the most beautiful and laid-back islands in the Bahamas. Traveling by charter is a completely different experience compared to commercial flying, and in this video we show you what the process looks like, what to expect, and what it feels like to fly over the Caribbean on a smaller aircraft.

Along the way we also share a special travel moment with our dog Ellie, who joined us for the journey, and even had an unexpected conversation with a very familiar face on the flight.

If you enjoy travel stories, unique flying experiences, and discovering beautiful places around the world, you’re in the right place.

In the next video, we’ll tour our Airbnb in Eleuthera and start exploring some of the island’s local attractions.

I Rode My Horses to the Grocery Store

This film begins with a small everyday journey.

Instead of driving to the store, I saddle my Icelandic horses and ride along the Norwegian coast to buy a few simple groceries and a cup of coffee.

There is no rush, no plan, and nothing that needs to happen.

The ride follows quiet gravel roads between fields and sea, across a long bridge, and into the small village where the horses wait patiently outside the shop while I step inside.

The day unfolds slowly — hooves on gravel, winter sun on the water, a carrot for the horses, and a quiet coffee in the sun before the ride home.
Some waiting. Some simple work. Quiet moments in between.

This film is not about adventure or achievement.

It’s about a slower rhythm of life, where even a trip to the store can become part of the journey.

Filmed during a calm spring day on the Norwegian coast with natural sound and minimal narration.

If you enjoy quiet outdoor films, slow riding, simple moments with animals, and glimpses of everyday life in Nordic nature — you’re very welcome here ????
Average winter temperatures in Iceland range from -2°C (28°F) to 3°C (37°F), though the biting wind makes it feel much colder. The Westfjords and highlands often experience the coldest climate, frequently below -9°C (48,2°F).
January is not only the coldest but also the windiest month in Iceland with an average wind speed of 26km/h (16.1 mph), so -2°C (28°F) feels like -12°C (53,6°F)

The development of a lighthouse system around Iceland was first discussed in Parliament in 1903, and a lighthouse on Skipaskaga was considered especially necessary if there were to be regular steamship trips between Borgarness and Reykjavík in the winter. In 1918, a concrete lighthouse was built at the far end of Suðurflös in Akranes, according to the drawings of engineer Thorvald Krabbe. Due to the shortage of steel caused by the First World War, the light house of the lighthouse was built from iron plates from the wreck of Godafoss, which ran aground under Straumnesfjall in 1917. The light house had a 300 millimeter lens and a gas lamp for lighting. The old Akranesviti has four beaches, 10 meters high and was in operation until 1947. The locals take care of the maintenance of the old lighthouse.
In the years 1943-1944, a concrete lighthouse was built on Breiðinn according to the drawings of Axel Sveinsson, an engineer, and it was put into use in 1947. The lighthouse is 22.7 meters high with a cylindrical conical tower shape where there is a 3.5 meter high Swedish light house on a concrete base. The light house had a 500 millimeter lens and initially a gas lamp for lighting, but the lighthouse was then electrified in 1956 and had gas as a backup until 1995. The light height of the lighthouse is 24 meters above sea level and the sight distance is 15 nautical miles. The lighthouse stands on a vertical plinth, octagonal on the outside but cylindrical on the inside. A retaining wall extends from each corner of the plinth. The lighthouse has four concrete mezzanine floors and stairs between floors. The Akranes lighthouse is a lighthouse owned and managed by the Icelandic Maritime Administration.

The locals take care of the maintenance of the old lighthouse.<br />
The Akranes lighthouse is a lighthouse owned and managed by the Icelandic Maritime Administration.<br />
