Comment "ICELAND" and I'll send you my full cost breakdown ????????
Iceland does not take your money at once, it takes it in pieces ????
⛽ Your card needs a PIN, or you cannot buy fuel: Once you leave the city, petrol stations have no staff. The machine asks for a 4 digit PIN, and if your card does not have one, it just says no. Ask your bank for a PIN before you fly.
???? The cheap insurance does not cover what breaks cars here: Gravel, sand and wind are excluded, and those are the only things that actually go wrong in Iceland. Sand damage can cost you 500,000 to 1,500,000 ISK, and it comes out of your pocket. Ask what is left out before you sign.
????️ Pay for parking even when nobody asks you to: Cameras read your number plate, so there is no ticket and nobody at the gate. If you forget, they send the bill to your rental company and add a fee.
???? Say krona, not dollars: When the card machine asks which currency you want, always pick krona. Choosing your own costs you 3 to 5% every single time.
????️ Ask how they charge for kilometers: You now pay for every kilometer you drive. Some companies bill it at the end, some add a daily rate. Find out before you book.
Five days, and all of it adds up before you have seen a single glacier.
Save this before your trip ????
