This is my 2021 Kawasaki Versys 1000 GT, the motorcycle I'll be riding from Plymouth to Nordkapp in June 2027 as part of The Long Road to Nordkapp.

The expedition will cover 5,000+ miles, eight countries and 24 days, travelling north through Europe and Scandinavia to Nordkapp before returning through Sweden and Denmark.

And the Versys has quite a job ahead of it.

It won't just be carrying me. I'll be travelling with my camping and sleeping equipment, clothing, cooking gear, tools, navigation equipment, cameras and everything else needed to live from the motorcycle for 24 days.

Over the next eight months, I'll be preparing the Versys for the expedition and documenting the process here. We'll look at servicing, brakes, tyres, suspension, luggage, navigation, electrical equipment, emergency gear and the decisions involved in preparing a motorcycle for a long-distance journey into the Arctic.

The objective isn't to turn the Versys into something it isn't. I want to make my bike as reliable, practical and expedition-ready as possible.
The Long Road to Nordkapp is being undertaken in support of Veterans in Action, while also incorporating remembrance stops along the route.
