Departure is more than leaving a place—it is leaving a chapter of the journey behind.
As I rode south from Sandnessjøen to Holmset, the realization struck me: my time along Norway’s Arctic coast was drawing to a close. The days here had been about beginnings and arrivals, but now I felt the weight of parting.

The coastline—harsh yet alive thanks to the warmth of the Gulf Stream—etched itself into my memory with every ferry, every mountain road, every night camped along its edge. Those who endure here year-round, human and nonhuman alike, inspire deep respect.

At Trondheim, this migration will turn a new page. I will leave the coast, ascend into river-carved valleys, and follow the Glåma south toward Oslo, before another departure awaits: across the North Sea into Denmark and the heart of Europe.

This film captures that turning point—an approaching farewell to Norway’s Arctic coast, and a glimpse ahead to what’s coming next.
