From France we flew to Iceland for our last two days in Europe. This was Molly's first time in Iceland (I'd been twice), so I wanted to be sure she got a good feel for the country, with the understanding that we could always come back for a longer trip if she liked it. But what to do with only two days in Iceland?!

Well, first off was a bus from Keflavik airport to our hotel, the unique Reykjavik Residence, which is not a single building, but a collection of multiple historic buildings spread out across multiple blocks. We stayed in a suite in the "Prime Minister's Residence". The room was massive, including a large kitchen, living room, bedroom, and a bathroom with a bathtub and separate shower. One of the best things about this particular building is that it was directly across the street from one of the bus stations that most tours/activities picked up at.

That first day we walked all around Reykjavik, visiting the iconic Hallgrimskirkja church, the much Instagrammed Skolavordustigur rainbow street, and the harbor. We had some reasonably priced Thai food for dinner, and then went back to the room for a hot bath and sparkling wine (pro-tip: buy alcohol at the duty free shop at the airport before you come into town, because alcohol is extraordinarily expensive in Iceland, and the liquor stores have very odd/reduced hours).

The second day was completely taken up with the Reykjavik Excursions Golden Circle Tour, which included stops at Thingvellir National Park, Geysir geothermal area, Gulfoss Falls, and two hours at the newly opened Laugaras Lagoon, which was new to me. Geysir had been remodeled since the last time I was there, with new walkways and bridges. Unfortunately, the Geysir food hall is still massively overpriced and serves mediocre food. But there really aren't any other options on the tour, so... maybe pack a lunch? Gulfoss was a lot less misty than my previous visit, which allowed us to get right up to the edge of the water. Laugaras Lagoon was lovely, and while it didn't quite have the same "wow" factor as the Blue Lagoon, it was significantly less crowded and touristy, and more intertwined with the surrounding nature. Absolutely worth the add-on if you're already doing a Golden Circle Tour.

The next day it was back on a bus to Keflavik airport. Thankfully we flew IcelandAir Saga Class, so we did have access to the stunning and huge Saga Lounge, which has a wide array of complimentary food and beverages, including a lot of local Icelandic option. One unfortunate thing that I'd forgotten about is that the Lounge is located before Passport Control, so we did have to leave a little earlier than I would have liked to be sure we had time to get through Passport Control to our gate. And then it was a relatively short 6+ hour flight back to BWI.

And that's it for the 2026 Europe trip videos! If you enjoyed them, be sure to subscribe to my channel to see my upcoming adventures.
