???? Renting a car can be helpful, but it’s not essential. If you’re visiting in winter and you’re not used to driving in the snow, I definitely wouldn’t recommend it as the weather is very unpredictable and can change really quickly. Instead, you can base yourself in Reykjavik and take bus tours.

❌ Don’t skip Reykjavik - Reyjavik is the capital city of Iceland, and I know you might be wanting to head straight out to explore Iceland’s beautiful nature but it’s such an interesting city with a brilliant food scene, so you should set aside some time in your itinerary for exploring it.

???? The tap water is amongst some of the cleanest in the world, and the bottled water you buy in shops is exactly the same stuff. So don’t waste your money and instead bring a reusable bottle with you so you can fill up your water on the go.

???? Be prepared for how expensive it is. Iceland is definitely a bucket list trip and the experiences are invaluable, but expect a dent in your bank account.
