Hello! ???? I’m Chelsea, the Holiday Expert, and over 3 days, I’ll be exploring Iceland’s capital and its surrounding areas. And each day, we’ll be keeping to a very different budget:
???? BUDGET
???? MID-RANGE
???? LUXURY
And for each day, I need to tick off:
???? FOOD
???? DRINK
???? HOTEL
???? ACTIVITY
????♀️ GEOTHERMAL SPA
⬇️ MY BUDGET DAY OUT IN ICELAND ⬇️
???? CityHub Reykjavik
???? £62 / £31 each
???? Happy Hour at Lebowski Bar
????£6.18 for a Gull Beer
And pssst there are even cheaper happy hours than this - check happyhour.is for the full listings!
???? Víkinga Pylsur
????£5.24 for a traditional hotdog
And don’t listen to James, this is a BARGAIN for warm food in Iceland! Though there were heating facilities at our hotel that we could have used too.
????♀️ Sundhöll Reykj avíkur pool
????£8.42 for an adult
This place is basic, but fantastic after a cold day out! The heated pools outside were 38 degrees and whilst the jacuzzi was human soup for a while, it was great when it emptied out!
???? Self guided walking tour
???? Free!
We used the free walking tour on visitorsguide.is which gave us a great route to follow, and then we independently researched the key points!
The ‘free’ walking tour (where you’re encouraged to tip) is brilliant too - we did it last time - but I wanted to show off another way if you were on a real budget and didn’t want to feel pressured to pay ????
⬇️ TOTAL COST ⬇️
£50.84 each!
???? LET ME KNOW…
If you have any more budget recommendations and PLZ can someone agree with me - I actually think Iceland is a BRILLIANT budget destination ????
I know I may sound like I’ve lost the plot but here’s the thing - if you commit to a tight budget, hire a car and then get out to see the nature that is FREE, it’s some of the best value for money you can ever get.
I actually found with this challenge that it was the moment we were allowed to spend a little that I found it much more difficult to not let costs spiral…
But more on that in the mid-range day! ????
