Jack & Will from Fallow visit Manchester to find out more about their sustainably and ethically produced t-shirts. They talk to Adam from Inland Sea and Andy from English Fine Cottons about their manufacturing process, the history of cotton, and the future of the fashion industry.

We decided to design and manufacture a range of three Fallow T-Shirts. The aim was simple - we wanted to get some incredible designs made of three of our signature dishes (the Cod’s Head, Mushroom Parfait and Oyster Shell Martini), then work with a super-sustainable T-Shirt manufacturer to get them made, printed and sold right here in the UK.

We grew up playing Grand Theft Auto and absolutely loved the bold graphic designs that covered the boxes, so we reached out to the man responsible for them. Enter, the legend that is Stephen Bliss. Stephen’s work as a graphic designer spans three decades and as soon as we spoke to him, we knew he was the guy to bring our vision to life!

It proved challenging to find a partner who shared our ethos, but after a lot of research we found Inland Sea. They work with English Fine Cottons in Manchester to bring yarn spinning back to the UK. By blending 70% cotton with 30% Lyocell SeaCell (a fiber containing seaweed) they were able to create their very own Seablend Fabric and create a product that is truly every bit as sustainable as they say - this is a T-Shirt designed to be worn and to last.
