Now on to France!

We departed Antwerp on a Eurostar high-speed train, destination Gare du Nord. After an uneventful train ride we took a taxi to our AirBnB in Vincennes:

Our intention with this leg of the trip was to use Paris as a jumping-off point to multiple other destinations. We weren't going to spend more than a day in Paris itself, so there was really no reason to pay a premium for lodging in the city. Vincennes is a beautiful, safe, but still bustling suburb about 20min outside of the city, and we were able to get a large AirBnB there for a very reasonable price.

We spent a day exploring Vincennes, including a tour of an outdoor farmers market, and a long walk through Bois de Vincennes and the Parc Floral de Paris Botanical Gardens (admission was 2 Euro). We also spent a few hours doing laundry (which the language barrier made difficult), and ate lunch across the street from the laundromat while our clothes dried.

Next up was a lovely and relaxing ride down the Seine with Vedettes du Pont Neuf:

Since we weren't going to be spending multiple days sightseeing in Paris, this was a good way to see a big chunk of the landmarks.

One of the destinations outside of town that we were really looking forward to was the lavish Chateau de Fountainebleau. It was a bit of a struggle to get there - you have to take a metro, then a train, then a bus. And when we finally arrived, the whole place was closed! Turns out the chateau is closed every Tuesday, and the gardens were closed that day for a private event. Whoops! Deflated, we had a nice lunch across the street from the chateau and then returned to the AirBnB.

Finally, it was time to head to our next destination, Iceland. We'd been told that CDG airport was complete chaos so we arrived extra early (via a taxi that was pre-booked on the G7 app), but it was completely dead so we ended up sitting there for a few hours. I also took quite a fall on the moving walkways, which is supposedly pretty common, but embarrassing nonetheless.
