Why does America want Greenland so badly? ???????????????? In this animated documentary, Why America Wants Greenland,The Entire History in 29 minutes, we explain the full history of Greenland, from the first Inuit hunters and the Vikings to the Greenland crisis of 2026 and the new US–Denmark security deal.

You'll see why Greenland looks as big as Africa on your map (it isn't), how Erik the Red named it "Greenland" as a marketing trick, and how his son Leif Erikson sailed from Greenland to North America almost 500 years before Columbus before the Norse Greenlanders mysteriously vanished. We cover Hans Egede and Danish rule, the US purchase of Alaska and Seward's plan to buy Greenland, the 1917 Virgin Islands deal, Robert Peary and the Cape York meteorite, and World War II, when ambassador Henrik Kauffmann let the US defend Greenland without permission.

Then the Cold War: America's secret 1946 offer of $100 million in gold, Thule Air Base (now Pituffik Space Base), Camp Century and Project Iceworm a nuclear-powered city inside the ice and the 1968 B-52 crash with four hydrogen bombs. Finally, Greenland's road to self-rule, rare earths and Arctic shipping routes, Trump's 2019 offer to buy Greenland, the 2026 crisis, the Golden Dome, and the September 2026 deal that may have given America almost everything it wanted without buying anything.

Will Greenland choose independence and who will it choose as friends? Tell us in the comments.
