Located in the far north of Finnmark, Northern Norway, this dramatic 66 km stretch winds its way along the rugged Arctic coastline to the quiet fishing village of Havøysund. For Erik, this was the absolute last route to cross off on his list, and the second to last for us overall out of all 18 National Scenic Routes in Norway. Living in Bergen, getting up here is no small feat—the shortest driving distance from Bergen to Havøysund is over 2,100 km! Riding a motorcycle in the Arctic means weather conditions have to align perfectly.
We got truly lucky with the weather on our way up, even though the second day turned out to be gloomy and chilly down in Havøysund itself. But the incredible landscapes and sheer Arctic vibe made every single kilometer completely worth it!
Along the way, you’ll encounter plenty of local "traffic managers"—reindeer who roam the roads entirely as they please. Keep an eye out in the video for a moment where a reindeer decides to lead the way, running zig-zag right in front of the bike (03:28)!
