The road to net zero is an enormous global challenge, where the high-tech and hard tech industries must work seamlessly. The transformative and emerging technologies, together with industry 4.0 innovations being developed by the digital manufacturing industry will be part of the story and the solution. For example, digital twin technology and high-performance computing that can enable complex simulation of net zero energy solutions through to IoT sensors that monitor and control physical, hard tech. The digital infrastructure must be aligned to get this right.

This in-conversation discussion will begin by setting out and exploring the enormous challenge of the road ahead towards net zero, particularly in power generation and transportation, and explore ways that the high tech digital industry and traditional hard tech industry can and must work more closely together. The Rolls-Royce Small Modular Reactor (SMR) will be used a case study, as will electric and hybrid electric aviation.
