This is part 20 of my road trip serie 'Into the Wild North' - Iceland
Today I’m riding through the remote Westfjords of Iceland on my Royal Enfield Himalayan 411, heading toward the legendary Road 612 (Örlygshafnarvegur), a rough gravel road that leads all the way to the Látrabjarg cliffs, the westernmost point of Iceland and Europe. This ride is a real challenge for me. Riding solo, pushing my limits on steep off-road sections and exposed cliffside gravel roads, daring to go further to fulfil a dream I’ve had for years.
After crossing wild fjords and empty landscapes, I finally reach the end of the road near Bjargtangar lighthouse, standing on the edge of Europe above the North Atlantic. The cliffs of Látrabjarg are one of the largest seabird colonies in the world and one of the best places in the world to see Atlantic puffins. And here, after this intense ride on Road 612, I see my first puffin ever. Solo motorcycle travel in Iceland at its rawest, reaching one of the most remote and least visited regions of the island.
