This is part 25 of my road trip series Into the Wild North – Iceland.

Today we continue our motorcycle camping adventure across Iceland on my Royal Enfield Himalayan and his BMW R 1250 GS, from the south coast to Westman Islands (Vestmannaeyjar), where the trip suddenly changes. After riding through some of Iceland’s most iconic landscapes, including the Golden Circle, we take the ferry to the island to reach the puffin lookout, but the next morning the weather turns, the storm hits, my friend gets sick and the road trip starts to fall apart. A mix of motorcycle travel in Iceland, gravel roads, Iceland highlands riding, wild camping, ferry crossing, strong wind, stormy weather, volcanic landscapes, off-road sections, Iceland road trip highlights and the raw reality of motorcycle travel when things don’t go to plan.
