This time we stood once more on the Nordkapp Plateau — 307 metres above the Barents Sea — beside the iconic Globe Monument. Then we turned south, following the never-forgetting road through Honningsvåg, past North Cape Lakes, Skipsfjorden and endless Arctic viewpoints, across the mainland, and all the way to Hammerfest.

Along the way: free-roaming reindeer watching us from the roadside, mirror-still lakes reflecting golden 2 a.m. light, and the vast power of Porsangerfjord landscapes.

In Hammerfest we stood at the Struve Geodetic Arc — the northern end of a UNESCO World Heritage chain that once measured the Earth itself. We explored the quiet beauty of Rypefjord and Indrefjord, felt the scale of the Arctic from the hills above town, and realised once again:
