How people live in Svalbard — in Longyearbyen, the world's northernmost town with a permanent population in the thousands.

Fewer than 3,000 people live on an Arctic archipelago larger than many countries, roughly midway between mainland Norway and the North Pole. Glaciers still cover about 60% of the land. There is no road network between settlements. Polar night and midnight sun rewrite the year. Polar bears move freely through the same country people use. This 4K travel documentary is about the system that holds: ice, treaty, coal history, daily routine, and conditional belonging at 78°N.

This is not a travel guide. It is a Terra Chronicles film about a real place, hard weather, and the communities that stay.

In this film:
• Longyearbyen at ~78°N — northernmost town-scale life
• Why there are no roads between Svalbard's settlements
• Glaciers covering ~60% of the archipelago & Newtontoppen
• Midnight sun, polar night, and the town's human clock
• Polar bears as free-country neighbours — not symbols
• Willem Barents, whalers, trappers, and John Munro Longyear
• The Svalbard Treaty (1920) and the company-town legacy
• Coal as the machine beneath the machine — Barentsburg & Pyramiden
• Daily life: school, snowmobiles, sled dogs, supply flights
• Avalanche risk, distance, and identity as tools (rifle, radio, UNIS)
• The Global Seed Vault and why people book the ticket back
