The Western world is filled with so-called "China experts" who not only have usually never stepped foot in China before, but also don't know how to read or speak Chinese. This is a big problem, because it means many of their reports on China are filled with inaccuracies based on simply throwing Chinese text into online translators.

Today I have a really good example of why that is dangerous, and how perfectly okay original Chinese documents and signs and so on can be misrepresented and made into "China Bad" stories in the West.
