Joe Pendleton, a saxophone-playing boxer, is mistakenly collected and taken to heaven by an overanxious angel before his scheduled death, but he can't return to his original body because his boxing manager had him cremated.

TRIVIA: In 1941, Alex Segall won the Best Original Story Oscar for the film “Here Comes Mr. Jordan,” which was based on his play “Heaven Can Wait.” This work is not to be confused with the 1943 film of the same name and a similar supernatural theme. A 1978 film version of "Heaven Can Wait" starred Warren Beatty, Julie Christie, Jack Warden, and James Mason.
